Phase 4: Deliberation method for the Yasuni social choice problem
- The first deliberation method gives judgment of scenarios according to the performance issues. This deliberation takes the first perceptions of participants related to the values for each scenario. The question to deliberate is: Are there good or bad conditions to a) leave petroleum in the ground with the Yasuní ITT initiative, or b) to exploit ITT, or c)to leave petroleum in the ground in the Yasuní without any compensation?. The judgement is made choosing a colour on a colour scale, defined like this:
- The second deliberation is through indicators mobilisation. Indicators chosen represent the personal perceptions, characteristics, qualities, etc., that comprise each performance issue for stakeholders. A maximum of 5 indicators are chosen from the mini KIK. The question to deliberate is: Which are the indicators that best represent (for me in the role of each stakeholder) the performance issue in the scenario evaluated? Then, choosing a colour from the colour scale showed above, allow an individual judgement of indicators and a final representation of characteristics of each performance issue in the respective scenario. This also includes a weight (%) categorisation to define the importance of each indicator to the performance issue evaluated.
